Call to Action
The house recently passed H.R. 2454 by a vote of 219-212. Due to pressure by groups like ours, the Senate has tabled consideration of the bill until September at the earliest.
Even though it is on the back burner for the moment, we must keep working to ensure that it does not pass the Senate.
The bill is currently being marked up in multiple House committees. Right now, a coalition of fiscally conservative Democrats called the Blue Dog Democrats have successfully blocked passage
of the bill because it is not deficit neutral. Speaker Pelosi is considering pulling the bill out of committee without a vote and then forcing a vote before the entire House.
